Who is eligible?

You must be a “European Union (EU)” student

The Government classes all students as ‘Home’,  ‘European Union (EU)’  or ‘International’. This status determines which tuition fees you pay, and which scholarships you are eligible for.

This scholarship is for ‘EU’ students from Croatia, Holland and Greece who apply to the University of Sunderland through the European Office as direct admission only. If you are classed as
‘International’, ‘Home’, ‘non-EU’, or from a country not mentioned above, or have applied via an agent then you are not eligible for this scholarship.

You must apply for a relevant course

You must enrol on a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate course with the University of Sunderland that commences in September or October 2018 and that takes place at our Sunderland Campus.
If you enroll on a course that has a different start date then you will not be eligible for this Scholarship.

Applicants who apply via a partner agent are not eligible for the scholarship. 


Receiving the scholarship

The scholarship will be paid by bank transfer.
If you have not registered on your programme within three weeks of the course start date, the scholarship will be withdrawn.
The cash award will be paid to you within three weeks of the start of your programme. If you withdraw from your programme before receiving a scholarship payment, the scholarship offer will be withdrawn. If you withdraw after a scholarship payment is made, the University will not seek reimbursement.

If you do not supply the required information, within three weeks from the start of your programme the scholarship offer will be withdrawn.

If you have an outstanding university debt of £50 or more, you will not receive the scholarship until the debt has been cleared.

As part of the Admissions process, the University will verify various aspects of a UCAS or direct application to determine that an applicant should be classed as ‘EU’. The following criteria will be

  • Nationality
  • Country of birth
  • Area of permanent residence
  • Date of entry into the UK (If applicable)
  • Location of previous education
